Wednesday: Play, Pass and Trash

It’s time for Wednesday’s edition of Play, Pass or Trash… unfortunately, the last part of our equation is missing tonight but that won’t hold us down.

Play:
The Middle: Last week The Middle sucked us in by reuniting Everybody Love Raymond alums Patricia Heaton and Doris Roberts. Unfortunately, this week Doris Roberts will not be returning but the witty series can still hold it’s own. What is also unfortunate is that the show conflicts with two of our other Wednesday favorites, The Undercovers and Survivor: Nicaragua. Luckily, we can watch The Middle on Hulu and ABC.com.
Survivor: Nicaragua : We honestly believed that we would never be shocked after Russell entered the world of Survivor. We clearly underestimated the show. Last week NaOnka went going crazy and stole people’s socks (but did not burn them). Sash is tried to create a secret minority alliance. Brenda had Chase wrapped around her finger but had a huge target on her back. Fabio was… well… Fabio. Shannon revealed alliances and randomly asked Sash if he was gay. And that was only the drama on the young kids tribe. At the old people tribe Holly went crazy, put Dan’s shoes in the water and then told him about it… Meanwhile we are sitting at the couch grinning ear to ear thinking about how crazy this season is so early on in the competition. Missing tonights episode is not an option for us.
Undercovers: The spy drama sucked us in last week. The visuals on this show are amazing and Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw play well of one another without being over the top. We also learned last week that not everything is what it seems and tonight we may get one step closer to learning why the Blooms were really brought in on this secret mission. Can’t wait to watch.
Modern Family: It’s brilliant, it has an Emmy and cast members, including the kids, are hilarious… need we say more?

Law and Order: SVU: We are still trying to pick up our jaws from off the floor from last weeks premiere. SVU proved to us last week that the Law and Order franchise was still alive and kicking despite the fact that
NBC dropped the original series last year. Benson and Stabler were compelling and captivating and we already suspect the show’s stars have their Emmy nominations in the bag. Plus we have a season pass so our TiVo is already prepared for the drama that will unfold this week.
Law and Order: Los Angeles: It’s Law and Order… of course we are going to tune into the expansion of the franchise. We have been waiting for the premiere of Law and Order: Los Angeles since it was announced. We could not stay away from the series premiere even if you paid us.
Pass:
Hell’s Kitchen: We’re not really in the mood to watch Gordon Ramsey yell at people,  we have Survivor: Nicaragua and Undercovers taping at 8 pm and this weeks episode is two hours long… so we’re going to pass. We will probably tune in when the field of contestants narrows.
America’s Next Top Model: The series keeps promising that this season will take it to the next level but has yet to deliver. We cannot bear to watch this week and will be taking a time out from Tyra and the gang.
Criminal Minds: Tonight Criminal Minds will lose one of their own J.J., played by A.J. Cook. While the episode promises to be memorable we cannot make space for it in tonights line up due to conflicts with Law and Order: SVU and Modern Family. We will miss J.J. but we cannot miss our two favorite shows of the week. Luckily, cbs.com will be there to comfort us in our time of need and provide us with an online streaming version of tonight’s episode tomorrow.
Cougar Town: We didn’t find last weeks episode of Cougar Town amusing or entertaining. Jennifer Anniston did not connect and Courtney Cox’s character Jules came off as clingy and desperate. We need a break from Jules this week (don’t worry Jules, it’s not you, it’s us).
Hellcats: If we wanted to watch a bad version of Bring it On we would tune into ABC Family when they are playing Bring it On Again, Bring it On: All or Nothing, Bring it On: In it to Win it or Bring it On: Fight to the Finish. We are over the rebellious cheerleader who is too good for the squad but eventually learns to appreciate the sport plot. We would rather watch reruns of Cheerleader Nation instead.
The Defenders and The Whole Truth: With two episodes of Law and Order tonight we don’t have time for any other wannabe Law and Order dramas. The Whole Truth gives us a lot to think about, showing the case from the prosecution and defense point of view, but does not give us a reason to care. Tierney is carrying the entire series on her back and normally we would support her but this week she cannot compete. Meanwhile, The Defenders failed to impress us with their attempt to become the next Boston Legal. Their was a lot of laughs but no substance when it came to last week’s episode of The Defenders and we cannot bear to watch the series again this week considering the big NBC premiere. Our entire attention at 10 pm has to be focused on Law and Order: Los Angeles. The wannabes will get left behind this week and we cannot say we will miss them.
Trash:
Unfortunately there is not any trash on tonight. The Real World Challenge hasn’t started yet. We will probably have to forge around OnDemand to find something to satisfy our desire for trashy tv tonight… come on networks, do better.
